Real Madrid and Chinese conglomerate Lai Sun Group on Monday jointly announced a project to build an indoor interactive football experience centre in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province.
"We are grateful to the Lai Sun group because this agreement will make it possible for Real Madrid to be even closer to our fans in China, a country that we all have in our hearts," said Emilio Butragueno, director of Institutional Relations of Real Madrid.
Under the Novotown Project, the centre covers an area of approximately 12,000 square metres and is expected to open to tourists in 2021.
The centre features a museum of Real Madrid’s history, a merchandise shop, various mini game challenges, other entertainment experiences and a restaurant area. Visitors can indulge themselves in an immersive world of football experiences, including professional matches and personalized training, with the help of virtual and augmented reality technologies.
According to Lai Sun Group, the centre aims to create fun-filled and highly interactive sports experience for guests of all ages and interests.
“The interactive football centre is instrumental to develop the culture of sports entertainment, and establish a diversified range of industries to promote the region’s tourism economy,” said John Tse, Head of the Novotown Project of Lai Sun Group.
