On Mar. 17, the 2022 China Hockey Program officially kicked off in Beijing. The Winter Sports Administration Center of the General Administration of Sport, the Chinese Ice Hockey Association and the Beijing Kunlun Red Star (BKRS) Hockey Club will jointly cooperate on the development of the China Men’s National U20 Hockey Team, the China Men’s National U18 Hockey Team and the China Women’s National U18 Hockey Team.
The China Men’s National U20 Hockey Team will participate in the world’s highest-level youth league, the MHL. The China Men’s National U18 Hockey Team will reside in the HC Kunlun Red Star Boston Camp, and participate in the well-known EJHL (Eastern Junior Hockey League) in North America. The China Women’s National U18 Hockey Team will participate in the JWHL (Junior Women’s Hockey League). HC Kunlun will make training plans for the three national hockey teams, and provide training & support systems including competition, fitness, evaluation and rehabilitation.
This multiple cooperation is an active attempt by the government sports departments to work with social strengths. It is only the beginning of the 2022 China Hockey Program, and there will be a subsequent series of plans to be implemented, such as building the China National Hockey Teams and developing Chinese hockeyevents.
