The 2017 CCTV 3.15 Evening Party was recently held in Beijing. And CCTV revealed that the new Nike Air Zoom Shoes had no zoom air cushions.
In April 2016, Nike launched a replica of the Basketball shoes that Kobe Bryan wore in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. However customers who bought shoes from this series found that the heelpiece of the newly-purchased shoes only had solid rubber soles, and were missing the zoom air cushions. The production department of Nike also confirmed it. At this point there aren’t any recall notices in Nike’s shops or on Nike’s Chinese website.
Such things have happened before. In early 2011, customers found that the Nike Zoom 2011 Basketball shoes sold in China were also without the air cushions unlike the same shoes sold in America. Therefore customers reported to the Chinese industrial and commercial authorities that Nike was involved in false and misleading advertising. At that time Nike explained that it was due to a publicity error and offered the same resolution of a full refund. After an investigation, the municipal industry and commercial sector of Beijing identified that Nike had damaged Chinese consumers’ rights and fined the company 4.87 million Yuan.
