Public information from the Shanghai Municipal Government has revealed that Shanghai will continue to hold the F1 China Prize-giving Competition in accordance with the 2016-2020 Development and Implementation Plan for Shanghai’s Sports Industry.
On Jan 12th, the General Office of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government released a development and implementation plan for Shanghai’s sports industry. According to the plan, it is necessary to improve operational capacity and comprehensive benefits for the eight big events, such as the F1 China Prize-giving Competition, the ATP Shanghai Masters 1000, the IAAF Diamond League, Shanghai International Marathon and so on.
During the F1 China Prize-giving competition last year, Jiang Lan, the General Manager of Shanghai Juss International Event Management Co., Ltd stated that the F1 China Prize-giving Competition has overcome difficulties in its initial business development, and become a vital part of F1 annual events. There is no reason to give up hosting the competition with the status it currently enjoys. According to an earlier statement to the Chinese website for Motorsport, Juss hopes that F1 China Prize-giving Competition will remain in Shanghai for a long time to come.
Chess Kelly, the new Chairman & CEO of the F1 Event, has emphasized several times that its future development is built on the basis of consolidation of its European sites with the additional aim of opening up the Asian market.
The 2017 F1 China Prize-giving competition, which will be the second competition of the 2017 season, will be hosted on April 9th.
