As confirmed by a reporter from the Beijing Youth Daily, in order to provide an incentive for participating teams, the Wanda Group has provided a hefty bonus for the 2017 Gree China Cup International Football Championship. The total prize money is at US$ 700k, including US$ 250k for the winners and US$ 200k, US$ 150k & US$ 100k for second, third and fourth finishing teams respectively.
Currently the national teams that have confirmed their participation, such as Iceland, Croatia and Chile, don’t plan to play their key players in this competition. Previously, the Chairman of the Croatia Football Association stated that the aim of attending the China Cup is not only to use it for team training, but also to win the prize money.
As the major sponsor of this championship, the Wanda Group provides the above mentioned incentives, as well as support for the event operation and organization.
The China Cup will kick off tomorrow (January 10, 2017) at the Guangxi Sports Center in Nanning. It is the only FIFA A-level championship that is named the China Cup.
