Serie A club Palermo has attracted the interest of Chinese investors, according to a recent report by Football Italia.
In recent years, Maurizio Zamparini, President of the Sicily-based football club, has repeatedly stated that he has plans to retire and sell the club.
It is reported that the club is in negotiations with both American and Chinese groups. Although still at the exploratory stage, the talks may contribute to a positive result this summer.
Palermo is an Italian football club from Palermo, Sicily. Formed in 1900 as Anglo Panormitan Athletic and Football Club, it is the top-ranked football club on the island of Sicily. Alberto Gilardino, once a striker for Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande, is now playing for Palermo.
Several days ago, Chinese retail giant Suning Commerce Group acquired an approximate 70% stake in the Italian football club Inter Milan in a deal worth about €270 million.
