The Chinese Football Association (CFA) has reportedly decided to establish a new official organization to regulate the professional soccer leagues in China, according to various Chinese reports.
Reports say the CFA are currently structuring the organization , which is under the name of Chinese Professional Football League (CPFL), and formulating a framework including a variety of regulatory policies. This new body will be registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs as soon as all the details have been ironed out.
The change will potentially see the soon-to-be-established Chinese Professional Football League operate and manage China’s top 3 professional soccer leagues. These include the CPFL, China League One and the Chinese Football Association Division Two League.
Basically the CFA will not involve itself in the management or business development of the above leagues once the new organization is officially set up and approved by the government. Instead, it will focus more on the operation and management of the CFA Cup, Team China, youth soccer and grassroots soccer.
The move, which is in line with the Overall Plan of Chinese Soccer Reform and Development, will be another landmark in the progress of China’s soccer-related reform.
