Premier League club Liverpool Football Club has struck a partnership deal with Tencent Sports to launch an official presence on China’s WeChat social platform, according to a report released on the official news platform of Tencent.
The club put a Chinese message on the perimeter board at Anfield Stadium in a home match against Southampton with the aims to call for fans’ interaction and engagement with the club on WeChat.
The WeChat launch will see the Reds further increase its presence in China and its daily engagement with Chinese fans.
Apart from the call-to-action slogan, the company image and message of Tencent Sports also appeared on the board during the match, which is believed to be a positive sign for the club’s established partnership with Tencent Sports.
Developed by Tencent and released in 2011, WeChat is the world’s fastest-growing social network app with over 600 million monthly active users worldwide as of the end of August 2015.
